The holidays mean more travel for many families. While this is a joyous time of year, it also means that we should all take extra precautions while driving.
For example, taking an extra couple of minutes to clear any snow from your car before hitting the road can help prevent your vision from being impaired. Of course, remember that the roads are icy as well, so watch your speed and make sure to leave enough room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Too many Michigan families experience tragedies during the holidays because of drunk drivers. Please make sure you have zero tolerance for drinking and driving. If you suspect a friend or family member has had too much to drink, take their keys and make sure they don’t get behind the wheel. One bad choice can ruin many lives.
I hope everyone enjoys this holiday season and will make responsible choices. As a leader in Michigan law enforcement, I know it is the job of law enforcement agencies to protect and serve our communities. Let’s give them a break this year and act responsibly.
Have a safe and happy holiday season!

Your vision of a streamlined yet efficent state government, a revised tax code, and a culture which upholds the rule of law and the value of life is a truly inspiring one.
