Impressive contribution total shows Bouchard momentum;
message resonates with families, job providers

Oakland County – Mike Bouchard, Republican candidate for governor, said the widespread support reflected in today’s campaign finance statement confirms that his blueprint for getting Michigan back to work is being embraced by families and job providers.

Bouchard filed his 2009 annual campaign finance statement with the Michigan Department of State well in advance of the 5 p.m. deadline. It shows the campaign received over $900,000 in contributions, the vast majority of which was offered by everyday individuals and families. Unlike other campaigns, the Bouchard team had been raising funds only for about six months, making these accomplishments especially impressive.

“This is a true reading of Michigan’s pulse,” said Bouchard, who serves as Oakland County sheriff. “People are extremely frustrated by the current governor’s failure to lead. Their willingness to offer up their hard-earned dollars so we can get Michigan back on track is a testament to the vigor and vision of my campaign. I appreciate their confidence and am more determined than ever to straighten out the mess in Lansing through thoughtful, decisive and experienced leadership.”

The finance report lists more than 1,750 contributions, most of which are $100 or less.

“My supporters come from all walks of life,” Bouchard said. “But they are united by their love of Michigan and a refusal to accept the status quo from Lansing. That staunch commitment to our state and my campaign is gratifying. While other candidates may have been raising money for longer periods, or drawing on significant amounts of personal resources to fund their campaigns, our support is widespread and genuine. My team will harness this exciting energy to change Michigan’s course. We will keep fighting on behalf of Michigan’s future. We’re off to a terrific start but we won’t stop until we fix Lansing and get Michigan back to work.”

To promote transparency and full disclosure, Bouchard encouraged interested voters to view his filing on the Department of State Web site at www.Michigan.gov/sos.

    Dear Mr. Bouchard:
    My company specializes in the development of commericial rest areas on our Nation’s Turnpikes. I fully support your suggestion about privatizing conventional rest areas as found on the non-tolled portion of the Interstate Highway System. In the late 1980’s, the Michigan DOT conducted a Study to determine the impacts of commercializing rest areas located near Kalamazoo. The public outcry at a public meeting was so vocal that the Governor canceled the project the very next day! I am alerting you of this since it could possibly impact your campaign. Once you are elected, I would be pleased to provide our consulting services to properly conduct such a high profile study that would include a role for all stakeholders and would generate solutions for implementation. This is a highly emotional initiative: mom’s and pop’s only see potential hardships. They need to see opportunity. My web page contains all of our contact imformation
    Best of luck,
    Andy Warcaba
