28 prominent former lawmakers endorse Bouchard for governor
Momentum for campaign continues to grow, following strong fundraising showing
Oakland County - A large number of well-respected Republican former lawmakers from across Michigan today announced that they’ve endorsed Mike Bouchard, Republican candidate for governor.
Supporting Bouchard are former Lt. Gov. Connie Binsfeld; state Reps. Dan Acciavatti, Clark Bisbee, Fran Amos, Penny Crissman, Steve Ehardt, Robert Gosselin, Mike Kowall, Terry London, Jim McNutt, Tom Middleton, Mickey Mortimer, Sal Rocca, Sue Rocca, Scott Shackleton and Harold Voorhees; and state Sens. Loren Bennett, Bill Bullard, Jon Cisky, Mat Dunaskiss, Harry Gast, Bob Geake, Mike Goschka, Joel Gougeon, Phil Hoffman, George McManus, Walter North and Leon Stille.
“Michigan’s next governor must have a vision of what our state needs to do to get our economy growing,” said Phil Hoffman, who served in both the House and Senate with Bouchard and represented Branch, Jackson and Hillsdale counties. “Mike has that. He is calling for government reforms that will help make Michigan an attractive place in which to create jobs and help get people back to work.”
“Mike will do the right thing and make the tough decisions necessary to turn this state around instead of focusing on the politics and the next election,” said Bob Geake. “That’s the kind of leader we need now in Lansing.”
Support from the former lawmakers is the latest in a growing number of endorsements Bouchard has received. Other members of the Bouchard team include a number of Kent, Macomb and Oakland county lawmakers and local officials; former North Carolina Sen. Elizabeth Dole, former first lady Michelle Engler, former Michigan Republican Party co-chair Jane Abraham and Bishop Ira Combs. Bouchard’s campaign is chaired by Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson.
