Creative spot sums up frustration on part of Michigan taxpayers
Oakland County – Tired of continually spending money on something that’s broken? So is Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Bouchard.
That’s why his campaign’s first television ad cleverly sums up the frustration of Michigan taxpayers by outlining the need to fix Lansing so that Michigan can get back to work. The ad, titled “Bad Machine,” begins Thursday and airs in targeted areas statewide.
It highlights the need to “fix Lansing, get budgets done on time, cut spending and focus all efforts on getting Michigan back to work,” according to Bouchard.
“Michigan workers know if they don’t get results, they don’t get paid,” Bouchard said. “Yet there’s a double-standard in Lansing, where the establishment seems oblivious to life in the real world that the rest of us have to face. Taxpayers expect and deserve the proper results from their government. As governor, I’ll shake things up, cut spending and demand accountability so that working families start getting their money’s worth.”
Script:
MIKE BOUCHARD: “Imagine a machine you put money into all the time and never get anything out.
We call it Lansing.
We send our tax dollars there and what happens?
They can’t seem to get a budget out on time and when they pass one it’s filled with wasteful spending.
I’m Mike Bouchard. It’s time to fix Lansing, get budgets done on time, cut spending and focus all efforts on getting Michigan back to work.”

That was a Democrat who put money into the vending machine and got nothing. Without a lot of bluster, just some gentle persuasion, you got the job done. It will take someone that is not afraid of the repercusions to get Michigan turned around. Sometimes actions speak louder than words.
How about a pay as you go strategy? Eliminate deficit spending all together?
Private individuals cannot get away with continuously spending more than we earn. That results in bankruptcy. How can governments do it and expect a different outcome? That is called insanity.
Government should only spend what it takes in (perhaps spending a little less than it takes in). And it should only take in the bare minimum to provide for the BASIC needs of the government. i.e. Defense, trade, enforcing the constitution (state and federal), etc. We should dump all the entitlement programs. THAT would reduce spending by more than 60%!
